"Peace, Be Still!"
Sometimes, I write Scripture references on these, and sometimes, I let the elements "speak" for themselves.
Coming Soon
I am currently working on some pieces featuring dogs in unusual poses. My first will be an extreme close-up of a German Shepherd's face. I'm planning to use acrylics and/or pencil.

Recent painting completed
Here's a painting I recently completed. The client requested a portrait of her niece's horse. She didn't have a preference on the background, so I asked about her niece's interests...besides horses. She likes going to the beach, the color blue, dolphins, and Nancy Drew books, so I incorporated all those things in the painting, placing all of them in a beach setting. I also put in little details that I thought would be fun, like a message in a bottle, written to the horse.
I used my favorite paint, acrylics. For this painting, I mainly used thin washes of paint built on each other, to create depth.
Also, a note about composition...I created a triangle with the ocean and palm tree. The horse is in the middle, and is the focal point. I also made some visible brushstrokes, creating horizontal lines, across the sky to balance things. The treeline enhances the horizon line/balance, but nothing is perfectly straight, so the overall picture is relaxed.
You may wonder why there are no birds...I debated this, but decided to leave them out, because, while I wanted several things going on in the picture, I didn't want too much. I also wanted the focus to be the horse, because that was the client's main goal.

Latest Progress on Gingerbread Acres Mural
Here's the latest! Still working on grass textures and will add the verse my client requested in the upper right hand corner...first I'll need to make the template...My mouse is a bit blurry...couldn't get my flash to work, but you get the idea!

Mural Update
I've added some more details...planning to further randomize the tree on the right. Have made changes to the sign and some other components, as well, since then. Should have a new photo, soon...

Current Mural Project
Here's the Gingerbread Acres mural, as of yesterday at around 6pm. I think I'll move some of the shadows when I work on it next...right now, I'm working on adding in clouds, as well as shading and highlights to pull things together and create depth. Also, will be adding writing to the sign and to the verse (which will probably be in the upper right hand corner, in the light). It'll take a couple days, or so, to prep my templates for the lettering...

Folk Art Abstracts
Romans 10:9 painting, as requested by client to match her decor (to the right) and, in its original form (below).
The "John 8:12" painting above is a little different from my usual style...although the world does sport my thick paint texture.
I incorporated a little collage technique in the Job 38:4 painting below...I thought it was an interesting way to add the words.

Sunflowers
I also enjoy painting sunflowers. Another of my favorite artists is Georgia O'Keeffe...her paintings are mesmerizing...I'm certainly not her (nor should I try to be), but her artwork has also inspired me! The sunflower below is actually a "photoshopped" photo of a flower from our back yard. I was just having some fun...love to experiment with new media! I call it "Electric Sunflower!" Ha!
Current Mural
Here's a mural I'm currently working on...again, at Gingerbread Acres. There's a big wall on the other side of the door to their office, which I was asked to paint. Again, a challenge, but such a joy! Nothing beats getting to paint on a huge white wall! I'll post more photos, as I progress...

Gingerbread Acres Mural
Here's a mural I did at Gingerbread Acres...a local horse farm that offers riding lessons and other horse related activities. It was fun...the kids really seem to enjoy it! It was, however, quite a challenge with it being outdoors (in a breezeway between office and stable)...and painting on cinder block, which requires lots of effort to apply paint in every "nook and cranny" and the fact that it eats my brushes! The kids (and adults) who came to the farm, were such great encouragers, though.;)
Jesus Film Project
This is a project I did for our church...A gentleman from our church who is an amazing carpenter made the top film reel (and the board, with its own built-in easel!). I just painted...
